Movement for the People exists for all who want to make the practice of moving meditation an essential part of their work of building community and organizing for liberation.
We bring the mindfulness practice of yoga to the staff and members of justice, liberation, wellness, and education organizations — in their spaces and online.
The objective is twofold:
Restoring a sense of calm in emotionally complex work environments
Grounding in the principles of your organization’s work through guided meditation and the explicit and physical embodiment of those principles through yoga postures
At our gatherings you can expect:
A guided, moving meditation rooted in ancient teachings and focused on collective wellbeing and liberation
A focus on breath awareness and the power of mindful breathing
Soulful songs of joy, liberation, and revolution from artists, such as Tracy Chapman, Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, and Mos Def
Ancestral wisdom and grounding messages from visionaries, such as Grace Lee Boggs, Lama Rod Owens, and Octavia Butler that help us cultivate perspectives aligned with justice movements
